Workers’ Compensation May 2020 Update

Workers’ Compensation May 2020 Update

During the course of a typical thirty year working career, many employees will unfortunately be injured. Or have loved ones who are injured.

Most attorneys do not handle workers’ compensation cases.  Other attorneys do, but not very well.  Some firms that handle workers’ compensation advertise heavily on television and radio.  I have never felt the need to do this.

I have been in practice since 1976 and began handling workers’ compensation cases in 1980.  I have handled workers’ compensation cases in Allegheny, Westmoreland, Washington, Fayette, Greene, Somerset and Jefferson Counties.  I am knowledgeable not only about workers’ compensation, but I have extensive knowledge about the areas of unemployment compensation, short term and long term disability, and social security disability.  A good understanding across all of these topics is a must since many workers’ compensation cases may also touch upon multiple issues.

If someone has a workers’ compensation question I will initially discuss their problem with no charge.  There is no fee unless we are successful in your case.  Workers’ compensation fees are controlled by statute which should reassure you that no one will take advantage of you.

That said, when one pursues a workers’ compensation case, there will be expenses.  I must obtain medical reports, office notes, hearing transcripts, and depositions of doctors.  An orthopedic surgeon, for example, may charge $2,000.00 or $3,000.00 to testify.  Sometimes I need to take the deposition of more than one physician.  Some attorneys are reluctant or unwilling to advance these costs.  Not me.  If I take your case, I will advance whatever monies are necessary in litigation costs to give you the best chance of winning or settling your case.

If you are hurt at work and have questions or feel that you need an attorney, please do not hesitate to call me.
